Product Testing
Have you ever wondered what’s in between? Have you ever flown off to Boracay, Cebu, Bohol or any of the other wonderful destinations in the Philippines and wondered what all the islands in between are like well at Trevally Boats we do because we don’t just build them we use them and test them where you would like to use them.
As part of our product development process we tested our 28 Ulua for 2 and a half weeks as a Committee boat for the 10th Philippine Hobie Challenge and as a Mark Boat for the recently held Presidents Cup in Boracay.
During these 2 weeks the 28 was exposed to all sorts of sea conditions from Calm seas to 25knot head winds with 15 foot seas through the Tablas straight.
This is where we tested the 28 Ulua over 2 ½ weeks.

10. Boracay to Punta Fuego
February 22, 2009
165 nautical miles
9 hours @ an average speed of 18 knots
Having had no problems what so ever for the past 2 weeks we headed back fully fueled in one go. Starting off against 25 knots of head wind kicking up waves as big as 15 feet in some parts through the Tablas straight we were forced to slow to an average of 8-10 knots. An hour and a half into the trip we decided to head for Mindoro and look for calmer water along the coast and this is what we found enabling us to once again pick up speed and maintain a comfortable 21 knots, once passed Dumali point we had the wind to our back and we ran averging from this point about 23 knots all the way to Punta fuego despite huge following seas through the mouth of Balayan bay.
We are confident in our construction and that is why we took our boat through these conditions and this is what you get with Trevally Boats, Builders who not only build boats but who use them, push them and thoroughly run them so that the boat you get is one you can be confident in. So if your out there and the weather turns for the worst you know you have a craft that will get you home safely and keep giving you that same safe comfortable ride year after year. Like we do you too will know what’s in between!
